Ohio Materials Matter on RemotEDx Exchange

Author // INFOhio Staff Tuesday, 01 June 2021

Ohio Materials Matter, a database of reviews of instructional materials, has launched on the RemotEDx Exchange website. District leaders and educators can explore and find instructional materials that fit their curriculum needs. EdReports is a non-profit reviewer of K-12 math, ELA, and science instructional materials. Using rubrics designed and reviewed by education professionals, EdReports provides thorough reports on the overall effectiveness of educational content, prioritizing standards-alignment, research-based practices, implementation, support materials, and assessment. Ohio Materials Matter is an easy-to-search version which allows busy curriculum adoption teams in districts and schools to find those materials that best fit the need of learners and align to Each Child, Our Future.

With the release of this reports database, Ohio joins other states who also maintain their own database for instructional materials reviews. States such as Nebraska, Mississippi, and Rhode Island have also partnered with EdReports to bring schools and districts a database dedicated to helping schools get the best instructional materials for learner needs. Ohio Materials Matter is a collaboration between INFOhio, the Ohio Department of Education, and EdReports working strategically to equip Ohio's schools with high-quality instructional materials.

Reviews can be filtered by Alignment and Usability (Meets, Partially Meets, Does Not Meet), Subject Area, Grade Level, and Publisher. Reports can be viewed as a summary snapshot or as a full report on the EdReports website. To learn more about how to read EdReports' reviews, visit INFOhio's Learning Pathways Class on EdReports. Schools and districts adopting new curriculum for the coming school year will find the EdReports Adoption Process helpful in making the best choice for students. Additional lessons on using the Ohio Materials Matter site will be coming soon.
